Tackle Your Spring Cleaning


The spring season is almost here, and with that means it’s time for spring cleaning! We’re highlighting some of the lesser-known spaces of your home that are still really important to clean.

Swap Your Air Filters

When it comes to replacing your air filters, the rule of thumb is that it needs to be done every 90 days. There are a few exceptions to this rule, which are as follows:

  • If someone in your home smokes or vapes, you should replace your filters more frequently. The particles released from these activities clog your air filters more quickly, making them less effective in a shorter period of time.
  • If you have little ones at home, you should replace your air filters more frequently. Babies and young children have weaker immune systems, so any amount of allergens and pollutants affect their bodies far more than adults.
  • If you have pets at home (dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc.), you should replace your air filters more frequently! Even hypoallergenic animals can cause air quality problems because of the dirt they track into the house or the dust kicked up from their bedding.

If these exceptions apply to your household, we would recommend replacing our air filters every 30 days instead of the usual 90-day mark.

Clean Your Ducts

Your air ducts are responsible for distributing air from the HVAC system to the rest of the house, so if your ducts are dirty, then the air you breathe is also going to be dirty.

How do you know if your air ducts are dirty? Here are a few signs:

  • Excessive dust throughout your home
  • Visible floating dust, even after cleaning
  • Frequent sinus problems
  • LAck of airflow coming from vents
  • Musty, stale odors when HVAC is on
  • Signs of sickness, including headaches, stuffy nose, etc.
  • Increased severity of allergies/respiratory issues


To keep your refrigerator perfectly clean doesn’t require a deep clean once a week. All it takes is some consistent effort every day. We have the perfect schedule for your to follow to make sure your fridge stays clean and free of bacteria all year round.


Before you put anything back into the refrigerator, give it a once over to make sure there’s nothing on the outside of the container. If you do notice something, wipe it down really quickly. This will prevent that excess ketchup from making a sticky mess you have to scrub up months from now. Additionally, if something spills in the fridge, wipe it up immediately so that it doesn’t turn into a disaster down the road.


Examine the contents of your fridge and check the expiration dates. If there’s anything past its expiration date, toss it before it starts to smell. That smell can be really tough to get rid of since it permeates everything! So prevent it from even happening.

Every Two Months

Place an open box of baking soda in the fridge; it will absorb any odors that are leftover in the fridge. You’ll need to replace this box every two months, as the absorption capabilities begin to fade after that time range.

Every Four Months

Every four months, it’s time for the deep clean. Here are some of our must tackles steps to ensure a perfectly spotless refrigerator:

  • Empty the fridge of all contents. Throw anything out that you’re not going to eat or has expired.
  • Remove all of the shelves and drawers.
  • Wipe down all of the walls of the fridge with warm soapy water
  • Wipe all shelves and drawers with warm soapy water. Allow any tough to remove spots to soap in the warm water for a bit, then try scrubbing again.
  • Dry all surfaces before putting any of the food contents back inside.
  • Replace your baking soda box for freshness.
